Pregnancy Blahs & TV
So, there are definitely some differences with this pregnancy than the first time:
1) I’m a lot more tired earlier than the first time. Age is probably a factor along with the fact that I have 2 boys at home, so no time for rest when I come home from work Monday through Thursdays!
2) I feel a lot more bloated and full in the stomach already.
3) The smell of any kind of ham or sausage bothers me. I didn’t have that the first time….the only thing I couldn’t eat the first time was chicken in the 2nd trimester as it tasted rotten and slimy.
4) The weight gain is a lot faster! The first time I gained the “perfect” 25 lb and followed the weight gain to the scale. This time I’ve already gained almost 3 lbs and I’m barely 2 months pregnant. Doesn’t help that I never did lose those last 10 lbs, so I’m 10 lbs heavier than the first time. Ugh, more pounds to lose after the baby is born.
5) My waistline has already expanded and I’m already wearing maternity pants. The first time I didn’t need them until the 4th or 5th month. At first I was depressed, but I hear it happens to almost everybody. Besides, maternity pants are so much more comfortable to wear at work than trying to squeeze into my regular clothes!
6) I’m craving for more junk food this time around like cheese steaks and french fries. Last time all I wanted was fruit. And certain foods this time taste funny or different.
7) I can feel my feet already swelling which is probably not going to get any better since I’ll be the biggest in the summer. Last time my feet became slightly swelled the last 2 weeks.
Other than that though, I’m thankful I’m not throwing up. My mom said she was nauseous with both me and my sister all nine months when she was pregnant with us.
In TV news, does anybody else wish this writer’s strike would end soon?!! I’m bummed that there’s no more Heroes, 24, Grey’s Anatomy, ER and the Office. But at least we get a little bit of Lost this season along with American Idol. By the way, did anybody watch AI last night? I felt proud that Philly was one of the cities this year, although we did have some strange contestants, like the emotionless local city tour guide and the crazy Allentown girl. Anyway, because there’s nothing else to watch and we don’t have cable, I started to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connors Chronicles (I'm a huge Terminator fan) and Brothers & Sisters. Although Sally Fields is not my most favorite person, I do think she is a great actress….and Rob Lowe is looking pretty good too! :)

wow, you only gained 25 lbs?! that's crazy. i gained double that amount. almost. everyone says that second time around is a lot faster in terms of swelling, in all its form. i'm sure you still look fabulous though. you've got height to mask the weight. imagine a 5 foot 1 girl gaining half her weight. not pretty. :)
Girl, don't get me started... all that has happened to me within a month I found out I was pregnant. I feel nauseous and I'm throwing up. UGH!! But in the end, it's all worth it. Weight is the most concern for me but I'm trying not to sweat it too much... (denial :))
I'm not watching any shows this season... (i'm going to get the dvds when they come out)
I'm a terminator fan, too. Let me know how that new series is.
I am going to try and watch American Idol, though...
i hear ya about the TV shows! i can't stand watching the horrible people in the first weeks of AI, so i'm just not watching it until they get to hollywood, atleast.
oh, and the weight. i gained 25 lbs the first time, too. and this time... well, it's alot more. we'll see. good luck!
OH MY GOSH!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
ACK!!!
[I am speechless and have used up my ration of exclamation points for the day...]
How is the Sarah chronicles. I caught the tale end of it. I was confused.
