Bahamas Pics

Gold Rock Beach where parts of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" was filmed (2nd and 3rd movie).

High Rock Beach - another private beach. Very soft sand!

Very peaceful as nobody else was there.

Nice to be able to swim with Nathan in the ocean where no lifeguard was around to restrict us like in New Jersey!

We were so proud of Nathan for riding on this float all by himself!

Beautiful swimming pool right next to the beach. They had a nice pool bar where Nathan enjoyed his fruit salad.

Just chilling on the pool steps.

View from our hotel room.

They didn't have a King bed for us, so unfortunately Nathan had to sleep with one of us. He fell off the bed every night, but luckily the floor was cushioned with tons of pillows. I was nervous about him getting used to sleeping with us, but thankfully when we got home he adjusted quickly back to sleeping in his crib alone!

View from our balcony.

Mommy and Nathan enjoying a good laugh!

Nathan was brave enough to jump from the pool steps into the water. He didn't want to leave the pool when they were closing!

Just when he was really enjoying the water our vacation was ending.

We're Back!

We're back from our vacation, back to reality. I didn't post anything earlier because my workplace blocked all blogger sites from us, so I can't post or view anyone's blog anymore during work hours....arrghh (can't blame them since blogging really isn't business related for us, but still. I was not a happy camper Monday)!

Nathan did pretty well on the airplane as he slept on the way over (since we woke him up @ 4:45AM!). The first day he was a bit cranky and I was stressed out....I wasn't used to spending so many waking hours with him (kudos again to you stay-at-home moms). He loved the beach and the swimming pool. The weather there was very humid and it didn't help that Nathan wanted me to constantly hold him. He didn't want to go in the stroller, walk or be held by Dan. That was the most stressful part for me.....holding a 27lb boy in the heat is not fun! The resort grounds were beautiful though. We only did two excursions/tours outside the hotel and I have to say, the rest of the island is pretty run down....kind of similar to Mexico. I guess we're spoiled from going to Hawaii and expected all other islands to look like Paradise. We did get to see where they filmed the 2nd and 3rd movies of the Pirates of the Caribbean. I had no idea they filmed part of it on the Grand Bahama islands (I wasn't a fan of the 1st and 2nd movie...too confusing).

We had a good time, but it's good to be back. I need a vacation from our vacation! I'll post pictures once Dan uploads it from his camera. In the mean time, here's 2 pics of him playing with his Thomas the Train and the matching hat....he looks like a train conductor, doesn't he?!!

Off We Go!

We are off headed to the Grand Bahamas this week! This is a picture of the hotel we're staying at (Westin). Pray for good weather, smooth flight, good relaxation and minimum crankiness from Nathan (we have to be at the airport @ 6AM Monday...ugh). It's been almost 3 years since we vacationed and I haven't taken more than 2 consecutive days off from work since I returned from maternity leave. It'll be weird being off work for a whole week! I'll post pics after we return. :)

Wisdom in Marriage

The pic above is our wedding cake with the dried flower still attached to it! It's been in our freezer for 7 years and we decided we need to throw this out as we need room in our freezer. I can't believe we've been married for that long.

While we're on the topic of marriage, a friend sent this to me as a great reminder to make our husband number #1 in our life (other than God). After being married for almost 7 years, it's been so easy to be complacent and comfortable and allow Satan to attack us.

“… God, not you, made marriage. His spirit inhabits even the smallest details of marriage. And what does he want from marriage? Children of God, that’s what. So guard the spirit of marriage within you” Malachi 2:13b (The Message)

Is your marriage thriving, or just surviving? Do you feel that you and your husband are passing ships in the night, hardly speaking, living as two instead of one? Unfortunately many marriages can be described in that way. After the vows are spoken, Satan starts pulling tricks out of his bag. Jobs, mortgages, cars, children, daycare, in-laws, and amyriad of other life challenges and temptations can quickly take their toll on a loving relationship. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, their actions not only brought the fall of man, but also introduced sin into the marriage relationship.

Satan can be disguised in many ways, and it is sometimes difficult to recognize his intervention in our marriages. Consider verse 6 in Genesis 3: “When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.” Eve was deceived into thinking that the fruit was good, healthy food for her body, pleasing, desirable, and giving wisdom. These descriptions of the fruit all sounded great, so the enemy was able to trick her into thinking sin was good. In actuality, Adam and Eve purposely sinned by consuming the fruit, thinking it was good, but did not purposely bring sin into the world. The devil used something good to deceive them and ultimately bring their demise.

Many times our marriages fall prey to this same trickery of Satan. Dishonesty, infidelity, and pornography are usually the first things that come to mind when we think of sin in a marriage. Satan, however, has many less obvious tricks up his sleeve. Satan can deceitfully and gradually introduce into our lives new things that seem innocent and good at first, just like a little piece of fruit, but they end up bringing us harm and despair instead.

One of Satan’s most powerful tricks is busyness. Often women get caught up in the captivity of activity, and feel they need to be busy in order to be productive. Sometimes this busyness may cause us to lose focus on our marriages. Satan rejoices when we push our husband's needs aside to put our children’s or our own needs first. He jumps for joy when we are too tired at night to be intimate with our husbands, causing friction in the relationship. Children, careers, families, and even ministry work are all great things. However, if we aren’t careful, Satan can use what is meant for good to damage our marriage relationships by making our husbands feel like they have taken the back seat in our lives. God desires that we balance the good things with the right things.

Inadvertent neglect of a spouse is the key that opens the door for Satan to pounce into our lives. Our husbands need our respect, and yes, even submission, but they also need our time and devotion. Are you willing to put aside your own agenda and give your husband some special time today? Give him a massage, fix him breakfast in bed, or send him a love note to work. Random acts of kindness and love can have a magnificent impact on your relationship with your husband. And if your man feels like number one in your life, your relationship will surely thrive!

Dear Lord, Help me recognize when Satan is using his tricks to affect my relationship with my husband. Forgive me for not making my husband a priority in my marriage and treasuring our sacred covenant together. Please bless my marriage and wrap Your arms around my husband and I, and create in us a desire for a godly marriage. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Good Morning Mommy!

So I go in to Nathan's room one morning to pick him up and this is how I found him. He managed to open the dresser drawer next to his crib and found all his infant winter hats that the hospital gave to us when he was born. He then took off all his pajamas and also managed to put this red hat over his head....I was cracking up! Thank goodness he didn't rip off his diaper.

Such a cute smile after he said "Good morning Mommy!"

For those of you wondering what's wrapped around his crib....we had to wrap his crib bumper (that we never used) around the railing because he used to bite and scrape his teeth on the crib railings when he was 4-5 months old. We still keep it on because we're sure he still bites on it and we don't want him to scratch it up anymore than it already is.
