Pregnancy Blahs & TV

So, there are definitely some differences with this pregnancy than the first time:

1) I’m a lot more tired earlier than the first time. Age is probably a factor along with the fact that I have 2 boys at home, so no time for rest when I come home from work Monday through Thursdays!

2) I feel a lot more bloated and full in the stomach already.

3) The smell of any kind of ham or sausage bothers me. I didn’t have that the first time….the only thing I couldn’t eat the first time was chicken in the 2nd trimester as it tasted rotten and slimy.

4) The weight gain is a lot faster! The first time I gained the “perfect” 25 lb and followed the weight gain to the scale. This time I’ve already gained almost 3 lbs and I’m barely 2 months pregnant. Doesn’t help that I never did lose those last 10 lbs, so I’m 10 lbs heavier than the first time. Ugh, more pounds to lose after the baby is born.

5) My waistline has already expanded and I’m already wearing maternity pants. The first time I didn’t need them until the 4th or 5th month. At first I was depressed, but I hear it happens to almost everybody. Besides, maternity pants are so much more comfortable to wear at work than trying to squeeze into my regular clothes!

6) I’m craving for more junk food this time around like cheese steaks and french fries. Last time all I wanted was fruit. And certain foods this time taste funny or different.

7) I can feel my feet already swelling which is probably not going to get any better since I’ll be the biggest in the summer. Last time my feet became slightly swelled the last 2 weeks.

Other than that though, I’m thankful I’m not throwing up. My mom said she was nauseous with both me and my sister all nine months when she was pregnant with us.

In TV news, does anybody else wish this writer’s strike would end soon?!! I’m bummed that there’s no more Heroes, 24, Grey’s Anatomy, ER and the Office. But at least we get a little bit of Lost this season along with American Idol. By the way, did anybody watch AI last night? I felt proud that Philly was one of the cities this year, although we did have some strange contestants, like the emotionless local city tour guide and the crazy Allentown girl. Anyway, because there’s nothing else to watch and we don’t have cable, I started to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connors Chronicles (I'm a huge Terminator fan) and Brothers & Sisters. Although Sally Fields is not my most favorite person, I do think she is a great actress….and Rob Lowe is looking pretty good too! :)

Finally...

Anybody notice something different in the banner up top?!! Yup, it finally happened! I’m about 6 weeks pregnant and expect to be due on August 28th. Although I’ll be huge and uncomfortable in the heat of the summer, I’m just thankful that God allowed this little life to form inside of me. Really, all the credit goes to Him and your prayers as none of this was because of my efforts (ok, maybe a little bit on my end…haha). I’m a little bit scared that because God allowed this to happen, He might take it away, but that’s the negative side of me coming out again. Through the past few months, He’s taught me to be more humble and to trust in Him and His plans. I know some people like to wait to share this kind of news, but we agree with one Pastor’s “philosophy” in that we want to share the good news with everybody and have people pray for us during this delicate time. And besides, I just can’t keep this a secret!

I’m feeling pretty good right now except for a little bloating. Thankfully there’s no nausea or vomiting. I’m just a bit more tired and I’m already running to the bathroom every hour or two. I vowed that I’ll keep up my exercise regime….there’s no excuse since we have a gym here @ work.
