Week of Cleansing

This past week was a week of cleansing: went to the dentist, got my haircut and received a free pregnancy massage/manicure. There’s just something about getting your teeth cleaned and hair cut that makes you feel refreshed and renewed. But just like the first pregnancy, my gums were bleeding a bit more than usual. Nathan watched with fascination as I spit out blood into the mini sink next to the dentist’s chair (gross, I know). Topping the week off with a free massage and manicure was the best …I never got a manicure before in my life. Since I hated it when my nails would click on the piano keys, I never bothered with my nails. I’m sure the manicurist was horrified at my nails even though she didn't say anything. Anyway, it felt great to have everything trimmed and moisturized. Thanks S!

So, we get our ultrasound this Thursday. Hopefully this baby will be cooperative so we can see if it’s a boy or a girl. 3 things I’m a bit nervous about:

1) There’s a problem with the baby’s health
2) We won’t find be able to find out the sex
3) This baby’s head is huge!

If you can remember, please pray for all 3 things! We’ll let you know the results!

I’m hearing rumors that this week’s theme on American Idol is country. Great, now that means Kristy Lee Cook will be safe again. That girl is the luckiest girl in the world. She just has to go...she's definitely this year's Sanjaya.

AI - Top 10

Here's my review and thoughts of tonight's performances on American Idol:

Ramielle - very very painfully flat, especially the beginning. I really want her to do well, but she hasn't been doing well the past few weeks. The song was too big for her and she was brave to do that song considering Carly did that same song a few weeks ago. She'll probably be in the bottom 2.

Jason - I can't stand it that he hides behind his guitar. I agree with the judges that the song was too safe and it was a bit boring for me. I'm hoping he goes soon, but most likely he won't.

Syesha - she's back!!! I love her vocals and it was amazing.

Chikezie - very boring. He kind of reminds me a little bit of Ruben Studdard (I wasn't a fan of his). There's just something about him that bothers me - I think he is trying a bit too hard. He'll probably be in the bottom 2 also.

Brooke - I agree that I didn't like the band arrangement of that Police song. It would have been better if she stayed on the piano alone. She's not one of my favorites, but she'll probably stay. She does seem like a very nice, sweet person I would like to get to know.

Michael Johns - he's finally back!! After he did that Bohemian Rhapsody, he hasn't been doing too well. But it was an amazing performance. I thought it was funny that he was the only one in the competition that was born in the 70's...wow, do I feel old.

Carly - I don't know why the judges are so hard on her with song choice, but I thought she did well tonight. I almost feel like they're treating her like they did with Katherine McPhee and just being extra harsh with higher standards. She has an amazing voice.

David Archuleta - not one of my favorite performance of his, but I still think he's great. He has such a beautiful voice and it comes out when he does ballads....I really want him to do well with up beat songs as well.

Kristy Lee - ugh, how did this girl survive so far? I was really hoping she would have been gone weeks ago. I'm hoping she's in the bottom 3 based on her past performances. I usually agree with Simon, but I have to disagree with his assessment that it was the most clever song choice he's heard in years....um, I don't think so! Sorry Simon, it wasn't thaat good!

David Cook - I know everybody loves this guy, but I can't stand his attitude. His smugness and "I'm better than everybody" attitude really bothers me. There's a difference between confidence and arrogance, and the arrogance just comes blaring out. I just think he's copying Chris Daughtry and the fact that he did an exact copy of another band's song a few week's ago without their permission (and taking credit for the arrangement) just adds to the annoyance. I really am trying hard to like him, but I just can't get past his attitude.

My absolute favorite performance tonight is Michael Johns. It's hard to say who'll go. Based on tonight's performance, it should be Ramielle, but she's never been in the bottom before. I say it could be Chikezie or Ramielle, although I would like to see Kristy Lee go based on past performances.

American Idol - Top 12

Based on the performances we've seen, my absolute favorite this year is David Archuleta. I love his voice and personality. Michael Johns would be my next for the guys. My favorite girls are Syesha and Carly. I do like Ramiele too as she's really cute, but has this big voice. I think Kristy Lee Cook should have gone home instead of Asia'h. Also, Amanda needs to go too as I don't think she'll last long with the different themes. She killed one of my favorite songs last week with "Carry On". And I'm glad Kady went home (the Britney Spears impersonator). She absolutely had no personality when she sang.

So, the pregnancy is going ok so far. I'm huge now! When I was pregnant with Nathan, my stomach growth was very gradual and I didn't get very big. Well, last week, literally I woke up one morning and my stomach popped out (although it was weird that I didn't gain more weight). I'm not exaggerating. People at work were shocked at how big I got all of a sudden. And my back is killing me already (with Nathan, it didn't hurt until about the 7th or 8th month). The way I look now is how I looked when I was about 6-7 months pregnant with Nathan, so I'm scared how big I'm going to get. It's been depressing because I keep comparing this pregnancy with the first one.....with Nathan, it couldn't have gone any more perfect. I think God is humbling me again because I didn't realize how proud I was with it until this pregnancy. Also, I know someone else who's pregnant...she looks so thin and is only big in her belly, like how I looked the first time. I'm trying not to compare myself to her or to my first pregnancy, but it's so hard when everybody is comparing us. I keep reminding myself everybody is different and every pregnancy is different. As long as this baby is healthy, that's what's most important. I'm dying to know if this baby is a girl or boy, so we'll find out in about 4-5 weeks. Nathan keeps saying he wants a baby girl, so we'll see if he gets his wish!
