Working From Home

I was thinking today about how thankful I am to have a flexible manager at work. The downside is not having that daily interaction since he's in our Dallas office, but it's nice sometimes that he's physically not here so as to not have somebody hovering over me. I've had bosses like that and it was very unnerving and distracting. Having a boss offsite is a matter of trust and communication and that is something I believe we have. I'm also thankful that he allows me to work from home on Fridays, especially now with these ridiculous gas prices! Having a good or bad boss can make such a difference in the work environment. It's amazing how much influence they have. I've had my share of both great and terrible managers.

Another benefit working from home is that Dan sometimes makes breakfast for Nathan and I like today. Mmmm, eggs with cheese & toast! Thanks Sweetie!

Broken/Crooked Nose

People have been asking me about my broken nose so here's the story:

I went on a business trip to Dallas 2 months ago. I then took the day off from work the day after I returned and decided to take Nathan to the store to give Dan a break from taking care of him while I was gone (plus we needed groceries!). While I was dressing Nathan in my lap, he got mad at me for some reason and flung his head backwards into my nose. I heard a crack and thought he broke my glasses, but when the pain was still throbbing after a minute, I knew he did some damage. We went to the ER and discovered that I had a hairline fracture. Not much I could do except put some ice on it. Thank goodness I didn't have to put any kind of bandage on my nose. Those of you who know about my knack of breaking bones, I can now add this to my list of broken body parts. To this day, Dan claims that my nose is still a bit crooked from that incident.

Moral of the story is: If your child has a hard head like Nathan, turn your head away from them when they start getting angry! We've learned our lesson.

American Idol - Final 6

So, I'll admit I'm an obsessed American Idol fan. My top 3 favorites are Katharine, Chris and Paris. They have such different styles so I'll be happy if any of them wins. Kellie has to go tonight because she was just plain awful - 2 bad performances justifies her leave!

Watching Chris lie on his back and sing brought back fond college memories. For my work study, I used to accompany vocal/instrumental majors and sit in on their lessons as they prepare for their recitals/performances. One of the vocal professors used to have her students lie on their back and force them to use their diaphram (Sondra, do you remember?!!). It brought a smile to my face.

Feeeeeeeeeveeeeeer!

Poor Nathan's got a fever! Still looks cute doesn't he? He wouldn't eat anything.....then he finally decides to eat some honeydew. Dan gave him the bear John Rhee/Dan Kim gave Nathan when he was born. He loves it and hasn't let it go since this morning! (He normally doesn't cling to anything). For some reason, he prefers bears with dark fur.

Scrapbooking on the web

Just the other night, I was looking at my scrapbook and thought to myself, "Why not put my thoughts and pics online?" Dan has been bugging me about creating a blog so I finally decided to take the plunge.

Here's a cute picture of my boy uttering his favorite word of the week. Dan put in the corny comments....
